Storm Season Contractor Knock-and-Sign
After bad weather, crews go door to door pressing homeowners to sign and pay a deposit the same day.
Legitimate contractors will give you time, a written estimate, a license number, and references. Fraudulent crews create pressure: today only, cash deposit, we are already in the neighborhood.
What to do:
1. Never sign on the first visit. 2. Get the estimate in writing and check the license yourself. 3. Ask a family member or neighbor to read it with you. 4. Pay by check or card, never cash, and never in full up front.
