Medicare scam calls rise sharply during Open Enrollment (October 15-December 7). Scammers claim you need a new card, offer "free" equipment, or ask you to verify your Medicare number. Medicare will not unexpectedly call, text, or email to ask for your Medicare number, Social Security number, or payment. If unsure, hang up and call 1-800-MEDICARE yourself.
